Hong Kong cabbies signing up with Uber earn more, but taxi council warns they risk breaking the law

Hong Kong cabbies wooed by ride-hailing company Uber say it gave them a lifeline as their earnings slumped through the Covid-19 pandemic, but the city’s taxi operators are unhappy.The Hong Kong Taxi Council, an alliance of 42 taxi groups, warned cabbies using two Uber platforms – Uber Taxi and Uber Flash – that they risked running afoul of the Road Traffic Ordinance.
